Breed description Fila Brasileiro
GENERAL APPEARANCE:
Typical molosser. Strong bones, rectangular structure, compact but harmonic and proportional. Despite his mass, he shows great dexterity readily observable. Bitches must show a well defined feminity which clearly distinguishes them from the males. The skull is about as wide as long. Obviously the head must be in harmony with the body, robust, solid and powerful. Once released, the Fila despite its mass shows an enormous flexibility while he moves light, rhythmically and easily.
A clear difference between a male and a female, on this picture you see a young male about 10 months old with an adult female.
Faults - Narrow skull or narrow muzzle. General lightly built, too light bone structure, too little mass, movement without elasticity.
Temperament:
Courage, determination and an unprecedented bravery. He is willling to the owener and his family and extremely tolerant with children. His loyalty is a saying in Brazil. Always try to get as close to te owner. One of the characteristics of the Fila is the "ojeriza" great distrust of strangers. He shows a quiet behavior, trust and security are not distrurbed by strange noises or a new environment. Incorrigible guardian of proberty, an instinctive hunter of big game and herding of livestock.
